My wife and I had fun attending the 2011 Moab Easter Jeep Safari in my 1997 D1. This was my 4th EJS. Fun being a lonely Land Rover in a sea of mainly Jeeps. I saw 2 other LR's but maybe there were more. I attend with members of my local Jeep club in Montrose. A number of them are trail leaders and gunners. The EJS is a hell of an event. Everybody should attend at least once no matter what they drive for the experience. The runs are fun but almost secondary. Seeing a 1000+ jeeps, etc. of all shapes, sizes, years, and from all over is fun plus attending the huge vendor show is fantastic. Seeing all the fancy show jeeps plus meeting a lot of really nice people from all over is a lot of fun. The runs are a bit slow but gives you a lot of time to view the great Utah scenery, wildflowers, watch the other trucks, plus talk to people. Ran Hell's Revenge including Hell's Gate, Fins & Things, Cliff Hanger, Backwards Bill, Kane Creek, Hell Roaring Rim, Tower Arch, and parts of Rose Garden Hill before some of it was abated due to extreme mud/slippery/rainy conditions and jeep breakage blocking the trail. Also did some hiking in Arches NP.
Im jealous. I wish I lived a lot closer to moab to go out there to play. I dont see me drivin 2250 miles with gas being almost $4 a gallon. Looks like a blast though.
