Where in MI are you?
There are thousands of miles of trails that are open to the public for free.
But you will be fighting snowmobilers this time of year so it is best to wait until spring/summer/fall for those.
This is a pay to play place, I have not yet been there as I just learned about it a couple of months ago.

The Mounds in Mt. Morris is a great park, but can get very crowded on the weekends and I'm sure it's over run with snowmobiles right now. If you are wanting to make a weekend trip, Drummond Island is a lot of fun. I took my Jeep TJ up there a few times when I lived in MI.

I have been to Drummond Island but not for offroading.

From Detroit Drummond Island would be about 8 hours one way and you can only get to the island by ferry.

Default Silver Lake Park

I'm not sure if it is still in operation, but up until about 8 years ago (when I moved to Minnesota) we used to go to Silver Lake (State Park?) in Silver Lake, MI. It was a ORV area with sand dunes & some nice puddles/ponds that you could venture into... It's right on Lake Michigan, not terribly far from Grand Rapids if I recall correctly.

There was a day use charge, but it was very reasonable.

Does anyone have any good michigan maps that I can find to buy for finding off road trails. I hope to do some more this summer when I have time. Would love some maps to plan trips, or at least start dreaming. What resources do you recommend?
