I just passed my tech and general lisences this morning! I'd love to put a mobile in my 00 Disco, what kinda setups are you guys using? right now all i have is a cobra cb with firestick 4' no ground plane ant. for chattin with the locals and on the trails in the future (doubt to many offroaders have ham in this state haha) but was thinking VHF/UHF are probably the most common?

Have a FTM-350 mounted under the passenger seat behind the CD Changer and the head mounted on the ceiling. Magmount antenna on the back part of the roof for now. Still looking for the right perm mount.

I saw a write up on one of the forms "expedition portal" I think about a guy who put in a HAM radio! It was sweet, he went on expeditions and talked to the scientists at the south pole from Alaska, so he said! lol

PS the antenna on the rear is the CB, the one on the hood is the Comet CA-2x4SR VHF/UHF (with military affiliated radio band for FRS/GMRS etc) to a Yaesu 7900r 50w with remote faceplate. The CB is a cobra 29lx, with a firestick no ground plane mount. I also painted the chrome mount on the hood black so it doesnt stand out as much against the black truck, and I hid the ultraguage wire under the dash instead of layin across the diff lock shifter with a ziptie.
