Screw it into the bumper. Then when you hit the bumper when wheeling you won't lose the cap. Those plastic clips suck anyways

how would you do that, wouldnt u have to take off the entire panel to have access, or drill holes all the way through the cap?

Well it's been a few months for this thread but here goes:

I've been a ham for about 5 years now I guess

KI4OIU General Class

I just mounted an Icom 706 in the Rover yesterday - body of the unit in the glove box and head unit on the over head console where the larger plastic panel pops off.

Anyone here have a HAM lisence? What's on your LR?-img_3100.jpg

1/4 wave mag mount on the roof until i fabricate the side mount.

I normally run an Icom auto tuner with a 102 inch whip for HF and 27mhz, and a dual band 1/4 wave for UHF/VHF. But on this truck I think I will keep it simple with a 1/4 wave dual band on one side and a 1/4 27mhz (CB) on the other.

BUT I mounted a Kenwood D700A under the passengers seat with a fused power block and the gps. The Head on on the console giving me APRS capabilities.

Have signed up for my Tech license, had a Novice back in the day but let it expire and I am wanting to run a HAM rig in this new to me LR3 rather than another CB set up.
