Default DII Harman Kardon sub impedance?

Both of my stock rear gate mounted speakers are blown, the 6.5" variety that come with the Harman Kardon premium sound on the 1999 Discovery II. Thus, I can't measure their impedance. I've heard they're rated 30 watts (RMS?) but need to know their impedance to find an appropriate replacement that won't overload the factory HK amp. They are marked "6RG 394" on the back.

The RAVE wiring diagram has very tiny numbers that say 15 watt by each of them. Maybe that is why they blew out.

I think they're 4 ohm.

4 ohm connected in series would be 8 ohms - which makes sense.

In parallel, that would be a 2 ohm load on the amp...not sure they would have a 2-ohm amp in the door...maybe, though. I'll see if I can pull one and measure it..I'm kinda curious myself - I want to replace them.

You should still be able to measure it, though, even if the surround is rotted - as long as the voice coil is still in good shape, it should measure a resistance, I would think...

They are 4-ohm, and I believe they are wired together. The factory system, at least in my 04 with the premium sound, supposedly has 11 speakers according to the Crutchfield wiring description. That means that the 2 subs are wired as one, probably in parallel creating a 2-ohm load.

I just tested 2 sets of speakers from rear of D2. The first set by Phillips measured 2.1 and .6 ohms. Both speakers were blown. The second set was a HK set. These measured 2.8 and 2.8 ohms. Both of these were also blown. I am going to assume 4 ohms is the specified impedance. Both subs shared the exact same wiring, although the HK looks a bit more robust. Thicker wires. Same connector. There are only 2 wires going into each sub. The magnets on the HK are bigger. As a replacement, I would think a 6 1/2 with a single voice coil would fit in each hole. But if you do a dual voice coil, you could buy 2 and only hook up 1, keep the other as a backup. I think it would be better to hook up left and right to one dual voice coil than to run a dual vc with only one input. 4 ohms and 4 ohms. Not in parallel, not in series. One connection to each voice coil. This is for a stock setup. Thoughts?
