Forum Friends, things are underway on a number of enhancements on the Disco. I've decided to stick with the stock 18s and want to lock in tire size. I'm going with a 2 inch HD lift kit. I know there has been a lot documented here on tire size and I have factored that in but would really like to hear from folks running my config as to what has worked. So, 2 questions:

1. 275/65 r18s or 255/70 r18s. I like the thought of a wider, yet lower wall so leaning the 275 route. I am not interested in cutting anything. I would like a comfortable fit without impacting drivability.
2. The more important question: what brand/model are you running? I will want to drive on the road a couple days / week but will use predominately for off road trips with kiddos. I want the tires to be resilient but I would also like them to be as quiet on the road as possible too. I will stick to trails/water. Very to to no rock climbing. 2-3 diamond difficulty max (likely high 2). Versatility is key.

Thoughts?

P.S. I will post all my enhancements soon. Quite a hefty list ;-)

Okay, an update on the build. Sorry, no pictures yet. We've been focused on the engine for now.

1. Had to fix an oil pan leak, a power steering pump leak. Also decided to replace with new ABS Modulator Valve Kit, a TD5 thermostat, and had a cracked expansion tank, so new one going in.
2. Terra Firma 2in Heavy Duty Suspension.
3. Sending the five 18 inch wheels off for paint and BFG KO2 275/65 18s are due in Friday.
4. Decided to have the shop u-joint mod the front drive shaft. The existing one was in good shape and this was a good place to save a few bucks ;-)
5. Saved a few bucks and using a Atlantic British steel rear bumper and have a Tactical 4X4 front bumper on order due in mid-January.
6. Will use G4 style front and rear headlight and taillight covers.
7. Using Terrafirma front, front and rear differential, steering, and fuel tank guards.
8. Terrafirma Rock Sliders with step outs (I have a short wife). ;-)
9. Old Man Emu steering damper.
10. ARB Safari Intake Snorkel
11. Replacement dash (provided by Charlie_V here on forum). Thanks Charlie! I went ahead and added the dash repair kit to the replacement to mitigate future issues.
12. Will mount a couple Hella spots I got from a friend to the front bumper and plan some LEDs on roof rack once I figure that out.
13. Replacing both rear upper tail lights with new so if any one wants my very mildly cracked, but operational old ones, let me know.

TO-DO: looking for a roof rack. Finalists are BajaRack, FrontRunner, maybe Safety Devices, and Voyager? Would like some flexibility in mounting stuff and using for roof tent.

Also need to figure out what winch to buy. I'm all for value but not short-cutting.

Unless my eyes are F'd up, it looks like this Passenger Rear spring is on upside down. "Flat" goes on the top(like the other side).

Nope, your eyes are fine...saw it too...and thought what the heck. Plus those brake lines look like they are about to snap. Hopefully, it isn't going anywhere soon.

Brian.

It looks like the shop installed the passenger front spring upside down too. Have a look at the video (start about 10:35) this is really a basic install.

And I know the suspension is hanging off a lift, but The Deputy is right get longer brake hoses.

Thanks! I sent a note to the shop with pictures. I also asked that we go ahead with longer brake lines. Where should I pick those brake lines up? Ideally braided ones. Might as wlll do it right :-) Maybe Atlantic British where I got the suspension kit?
