Default Defender 200Tdi - Moving on from Propshaft !

Ok, I have now changed all the UJ's on both props and cured MOST of the problem!

I noticed when re-fitting the front prop that there was a small amount of play on the output of the gearbox/transfer unit (Sorry, i'm a bit new to Landrovers), is this normal ?

Other sounds, when depressing the clutch pedal (not raising it) I hear a metallic noise and the gears are notchy, hard to describe the noise ?!?

When accelerating above say, 40 mph, I hear a rumbling noise that I cannot place. I thought that it was the UJ's but obviously not. When going down the box everything is perfect.

I mention all this because when I bought the car last year it was really tight and noise free, I am keen to get it back to that stage so that I don't have to worry every time I drive it, and can get back to having a bit of fun green-laneing in it !!!!

Any ideas folks?

Grum
