Default rear shock springs on D90

went off road for first time with truck today. was on steep incline with one side of truck and noticed the rear spring was not locked in place and was kind of just floating there connected still at the bottom.
1) is the spring supposed to come out of the holder at the top?
2) is there supposed to be a cone or someting that attaches to the top of the spring to redirect it back in place?

thanks in advance

we got it back in place by holding it there and backing it up not knowing if it would fix itself.

thanks in advance
