Default Tires for Defender 110

I posted this in the Tires section, but thought I might get more responses from the Defender crowd.

I am looking for thoughts on tires for my stock Defender 110 (1993 200Tdi).

So far I have boiled it down to either the BFG T/A KO's or the Bridgestone A/T Revos, both at a 265/75/R16 (Load Range D or E).

I know the BFG's are tried and tested on the Defender, but does anyone have any experience with the Revo's? I'm also open to any other suggestions for an all terrain tire that isn't too noisy on the highway.

Thanks!

I'm running mud kings on my defender. Made by bfg and same tread pattern as the bfg muds but way less expensive. 10k miles now and little to no wear as well as very quiet for a mud tire.

Thanks for the responses -

Discodefender do you have 235/85 or 265/75 on your defender (assuming stock w/ no lift)?

I am considering a set of BFG MT's to leave up where I offroad, and a set of the BFG T/A All Terrains for the road/hwy trips up and back. But now debating sizes - height is the same (31" I believe) but its the width that's different.

Many thanks!

I'm sure that they come in metric sizes also but I'm running a rovertym 3" lift with all the goodies and 35x12.50 on black steel 15x8s. I would recommend the tires for every day use. They are very quiet for a mud tire and wear very well. I only paid a little over $100 a tire. Traction is excellent. I would not hessitate to drive across the country with them.

I'm also interested to hear opinions on the difference between going with a 265/75 versus a 235/85. Both apparently will fit a stock defender with no lift. The difference being the width of the tire. Some people argue for a narrower tire that will theoretically dig deeper through the top layer of soil and therefore provide better traction. Others I know say this is not true and that in fact a wider tire with it's greater area of contact with the ground will provide better traction. Thoughts anyone?

You may also want to consider something fairly new and different that has come from Europe.

There are a number of trucks in the Solihull Society and they all say they are the best.

That 'Icelander'has exactly the same tread pattern as the Yokohama Geolander MT...

I use a Spanish made remold version on mine, Insa Turbo Sahara MT in 235/85/16 and can confirm they're excellent in the mud and on sand.
