Default Towing with a defender

Is it a bad idea to tow an enclosed race car trailer with a '95 defender? The trailer weights 3400lbs and the car weights 1600lbs. Will it have enough power to go up hills? Will 4wd be an issue? Will wind be a problem?

Thanks!

Default RE: Towing with a defender

Defenders are permanent 4WD and are just fine on tarmac. They make fabulous towing vehicles - the 5,000lB combined weight of your race car and trailer isn't even close to the maximum towing weight for the vehicle (3,500kgs or 7,700lBs) Depending on the hills you might have to drop a cog or two but motorways here in the UK are generally no problem for my Tdi which has a bit less power, but about the same torque, as a NAS V8.

Cheers,
