Default Valve cover breather

Thinking out loud.
Lately after long hwy trips, 60+ miles @ 75-80 mph, rear main seal goes to leaking. Daily Driving no real problem.
Anyone ever try using old Buick 215 V8 valve covers, ones with breather ports? Or just the stock covers with bigger holes?

No to your question.

Have you looked at/cleaned the PCV in the passenger side valve cover?

Yep, cleaned out that little bugger. Thinking about just venting to atmosphere, with a wee filter, and plugging the vacuum line.

I remember some folks using those on their turbo buicks. I never did.
My thoughts were leaning towards just a wee breather venting to atmosphere.
Wish I could find one without chrome on it.

I thought about the same thing but just replacing the hoses and spraying out the intake and IACV was much cheaper
she runs nice and smooth now

Alex_M made a write-up for what you have mentioned for the Discovery 2. Should be a similar procedure. He basically stuck on 2 small air filters where the PCV lines were and plugs the intake manifold.

whats the little thing in the vent hole on valve cover?mine broke but the bottom part is still in there,i don't want to mess with it in case i accidentally push it in!noticed when i changed my pcv hose so i just sprayed maf cleaner and left it,isn't the whole idea of venting to keep the pressure back in the engine?curious because my rear main seal leaks [not bad].it does make sense to vent excess pressure out of crankcase.
