Before you too carried-away dismantling the AC system, check the bulbs in the switches.

Each switch has an Orange (tell-tale) and Green (night-time illumination) bulb in them -

STC1863

BTR6491

The replacement bulbs, are -

Orange - STC1877

Green - STC1878

.

So I ordered a NEW switch and still no AC. The switch doesn't light up at all. I've changed the green relays for the AC and checked to see if the system was charged. I'm really stumped. I took the switch out and I've got 11volts on one part of the white plug. Without digging through the RAVE does any one know how many hot wires there should be on the plug for the AC switch?

Default Will a D2 rear ac switch work in a D1 dash switch location?

I just picked up a 1996 Discovery 1 for my son. The ac relay is fine and the dash ac switch works when pressed super hard. I've found many D2 rear ac switches with ac button and fan control on ebay, but none for the D1. Will the D2 ac switch fit and function properly in the D1 dash location?

We live in Florida and the ac is pretty essential here as a windshield fog eliminator.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

No I don't think it will. The one behind the dash has a white plug that plugs in to the back of it. I can't remember what the rear switch plug looks like but I believe it's different. You'll have to buy a new one or go to a junk yard to find an old one. You'll also need to download the RAVE to see how to change it. Google Land Rover RAVE and download it.

I think I got mine at brit-car.co.uk
It's was like 40$ and took about three weeks to get. I checked all the American rover parts places I could think of and none of them had it. I'm sue you can find it at a junk yard cheaper. If you can't find it PM me and I'll give you a number to a junk yard that will have it.
