Cool center diff lock light not illuminating

Hi guys today I shifted the center diff to 4hi locked and the stick felt like it shifted but the diff lock light did not illuminate. I'm not so concerned about the light, but rather the function to lock the center diff. Is there any other way of me knowing that the center diff is locked or not? Thanks

Do a few U turn's on bitumen and you will hear the tyre squeal as they fight against the diff.
Possibly the wire has come of the transfer case switch.

That's a good idea. Do you happen to know where the transfer case switch is located.

Shift back a forth a few times and go forward for 100-200 feet. They stick sometimes.
