What were the fitting sizes used to build the hose with the 90 Deg bend?

 

Another 97 disco suffering from no power steering (warm) when idling or low engine speeds. It worked well when cold but would fade and not work after fluid warming up.


I just did a GM pump conversion on my 97 disco. It works perfectly. Everything lines up as it should. The only little tricky part is swapping the pulley over. I used a 3 jaw puller to remove and used a special installation tool to put it on the GM pump. As others have stated, the only difference is the nipple coming off the side. I used 1.5' of 5/8 oil resistant hose and a PEX 90 deg fitting. It is brass and makes the turn quickly and clears the engine easily. I know that many use heater hose but I know that it would not last with AF or power steering fluid running through it. Eventually I would like a better solution for it but this would last a long time as is.


A1 cardone pump 20-874 remanufactured $62 on ebay with no core
3/4" pex 90 deg brass fitting
5/8" oil resistant hose. 1.5' length. I could not find this at napa or other auto part stores. I ended up going to a truck part store to find it.


This pump swap solved all my issues and I can't notice any extra noise or other problems. Thanks to all that covered this and made it easier for me to do!

 

ok so my used pump laying around makes a little noise but the one I took off was locking up so for now I will go with noise vs seized lol


guess this pump conversion follow I want to be sure I have this right


buy a ps pump for 1992 s10 2.5
swap the pulley boss with rover pump
install pump
and I need a hose with a 90* bend, is this the pressure line or is it the heater hose looking return line?

The Chevy pump looks the same as the d2 pump, so you need the d2 hose?

Someone got an actual pic of theirs ?

 

I still wanna know if this pump swap will work on a early v-belt rover pump. If I can retain my old pulley on the s10 pump and install as easily as the later style pump.

Transfer case PTO? Tom could you expand on that a little, like where is the PTO off the transfer case?

Somewhere on this site someone posted replacing the gaskets by making there own for the original pump. I went that direction with mine except I used black RTV to make new gaskets, that was 1 1/2 years ago and no problems since. Cheaper than this solution, though I would have rather gone the Chevy pump way in hind site.

Just did this today since I have wiped bearings in 3 rover pumps now, I used the pex 90 and like 2" of the oil line then reused my good return line

I got the 5/8" return line at a Napa that speacilizes in big rigs
