Red face Daytime running lights

I have a 99 disco series 1. The daytime running lights do not come on when the vehicle is started. Checked the fuses and they are okay. Checked bulb, okay. The running (dims) only come on when you turn the light switch to that position. Is this an easy fix? I have limited vehicle skills.

I assume you do not live in the US as the DRL's were not fitted to those sold here.
There is a DRL relay that you need, I do not know its location.

Thanks, I'll do some research to see where it's located and ask around for the part.

It is called a daytime running light control unit. See attached pages from RAVE.

Looks like a diode is also part of that. So was your vehicle ever set up with these (Canadian)? If it was, you would also want to check fuse F2 (20 amp) in underhood box and F1 (15 amp) in fuse panel under dash.

Mine does the same thing. I thought that was the way it is supposed to be.

Once you add the required parts you will still need to go to a dealer or shop and use a Test book to program your BCU to turn the lights on.

Thanks for all the manuals. Yes It's a Canadian Disco. Once I find the part and replace it, are you saying that my lights won't work. That's why I would have to take it to the dealer?

I was trying to get away from going to the dealer. Otherwise I would have them do the whole job.

On the DI all you need to do is install the relay.
On the DII the dealer has to turn the DRL's on/off in the body control unit but not the DI, which is what you have.
