Default Fuel Pump shortage?

Hello Good People,

The previous owner told me that once every few weeks if the car didn't start you would have to go into the cargo area and wiggle the electric cable on the fuel pump.

Well it happened to me a few times already. I applied some dielectric grease but it still happens at least once a month. Anything else anyone may suggest would be greatly appreciated.

Disconnect the connector and repair the pins inside the connector. I make it sound easy, but I know spare connectors are hard to find and the pin as well. You could get a used wiring harness and go this route. Maybe you can get lucky and bend the pins tighter for a better connection.

Mine only shorts the fuse under hood if the relay(metal) one touches the side panel.

Hopefully the male pins on the pump aren't corroded and ready to fall off like on mine! Clean the pins/contacts and slop on the dielectric grease to prevent further corrosion.

Thanks Everyone!

I recall when I bought a used fuel pump for the D2 it came with a cut female plug attached. That might be of some use.

Hello again,

By looking at this image can one suppose the issue I am having is more related to the plug than the fuel pump?

Thanks

A weak connection can cause higher resistance and overheat the connector.
