Unhappy Have no steering on My Disco I ???

Any help would be appreciated..Thank you!!!

I was parked in the city yesterday. It was a tight squeeze....my truck has always had an inch of play on both sides. So I was turning the wheel a multiple of times without moving the truck..ouch..I know. Had no choice. the lst turn to the steering wheel...my steering wheel all of a sudden had now 9inches of movemnet on both sides before the wheels would even move. Now I was out in the street and made a U-turn and then lost complete use of the steering wheel and now the steering wheels goes round and round and the wheels do not move. So.....I am assuming the Steering Gear Box is gone????

Any help would be great..

Thank you

See attached from RAVE shop manual, under steering. There is a big nut on top of the steering box that can be adjusted. Since we are talking about a field repair, rather than perfection at a shop, you might want the adjustment on the steering box to see if you have anything left. Many times a lot of slack can be removed from the system. If so, this may give you time to make perfect adjustments or replace / rebuild the steering box. In a rare case, you could also have a missing pin frm the steering linkage.

I'm assuming your Power Steering(actually tranny fluid) is full?

Did you bother raising the hood and or getting underneath it to look for the obvious?

If the steering wheel just spins in a circle then something broke.
Here is a diagram of the steering components, start looking for whats broke.

Like Danny Lee, you just ignored it when it happened? Then attempted a u-turn? Linkage

Check you gear teeth from your steering shaft into your gearbox. I had the same problem. Best of luck.
