another strange problem
The kid's woman drove my Discovery last night about 5 -9 miles and shut it off at a store. When she came out, it wouldn't start. I checked the fuel rail and it had air under compression when I released the valve....
Left it sit for about 1/2 hour and it started right up, been working fine ever since. Didn't seem to be overheated and it was a rather cool night out.
Any guesses??

Perhaps the CKP if it is a 96 or newer, plan on replace the the crank shaft position sensor. When it is bad, it "dies" when block heats up after parking, and won't go back to normal until cooled off (by water or time). No spark when it is acting up, easy to check, attach a spare plug when it is in failure mode.

Here is my latest theory after looking through the manuals..
I have realized it only happens when the truck has been driven enough to bring the engine temp up to operating temperature. Then when it is shut off, and sits for less than 30 min, it does not start and there is no fuel pressure (pump doesn't run) Leaving the truck for an hour or more, it then starts up (if I let the pump get up to pressure) and runs fine.
I see there is a fuel temp sensor on the injector rail, If this is giving a bad reading, could that somehow shut down the fuel pump power circuit?? Thinking it is reading too cold , or too hot... Anyone had any experience with this?? or am I blazing uncharted territory...
My other thought is to put a 12v power switch to the fuel pump for when this happens...
