Default Update 2

So didn't get anything done yesterday due to rain, though today did have some fun, well not really. Fully removed the injector rail. As I only pulled it loose enough to pull the injectors before. That showed me 2 things, firstly the plenum had 0 gasket and had been taken off before. As they just tried to RTV around the outside of it rather than get a gasket.. ugh.. two was that the injectors were all really nasty and filthy at the base where they went inside the manifold. Not sure if they are original or not, but am thinking not so much. Well should have said 3 things as I did notice two things about the rail. One is that the passenger side of the rail is slightly higher than the drivers side part. Not sure if someone else did that or if it should be that way. And lastly that a couple of the ports where the rail connects to the injector are banged up pretty bad, I will attempt to put pics up to show you what I am talking about. Also what do y'all think about the rail is it ok, or should I hunt one down while I am getting new injectors? Also whats a good brand for the injectors cause I found a set of 8 lucas injectors on ebay for 338.00 Thanks again and will keep y'all posted

Plenum doesn't use any type of gasket. If the rail shows corrosion (I have a slow connection, can't load pics) you should replace it. If there's damage the answer is obvious. Up to you on the injectors, as long as they're the right impedance and pounds.

No rust or any of that, it's more that they are sort of bent in round where the upper part of the injector connects in. The gunk was mostly on the base of the injectors where they connect in to the manifold, and really cause I was told that after you pull it off then your supposed to put a gasket on.

**EDIT** So just ordered the injectors, Lucas one's and a new rail, didn't like the way the old one was banged up lol. Now just doing research keep getting the whole if you take it off then use a gasket, and some saying don't so not sure what way to go on that one.

From the factory there isn't a gasket installed so it's personal preference wether you use one or not. Easy to make one out of file folder stock. I used a very thin coat of High Tack, thinned with just enough solvent to thin it out but yet still remain sticky. Like most, it's up to you just keep it thin if you go the gasket route.

Will do. Got the gasket today, not sure is it supposed to go on between the manifold and the plenum, or does it go on the cover? Now am just waiting on the injectors and rail to show up.

Wanted to apologize for the gap between updates, have just been waiting on first the rail to show up, which it finally did Tuesday, and now am just sitting and waiting on the rain to stop. Got a new camera as my last one died on me So will have pics up hopefully tomorrow as it is not supposed to rain. Just wanted to leave y'all a little note that I haven't forgotten just been playing the waiting game which always sucks when your wanting to get it done asap. Have been driving a 350z (my brothers) which is a good enough car but it's not my rover, and climbing out of it is a pain (the z ) :P

Default Update 9/19/2015

Heyo quick little update and some questions. Got the valve gaskets put on, those weren't too bad, well cept for the drivers side was a little pain lol. Then cleaned up the manifold as best as could be as it was filthy. Put the new injectors in after cleaning all the ports best as I could. Forgot to put on the lubricant so gonna have to redo that but its easy. Now for the problem. The rail I ordered has a good deal of rust inside all the ports, as well as through the main rail. So my question is this, does anyone know a good parts cleaner that will remove rust from steel fuel lines, and two what pictures were you wanting me to take again, sorry forgot. Anyway thanks in advance and thank you for everything.
