Sounds like you've got the wrong wire, there.

Nope, RAVE says it's right, 85 off of a relay is ground. It's this weird *** positive grounding thing I don't understand

Post the RAVE wiring diagram, maybe we can figure it out.

Rovers are not positive ground. The switch is supposed to interrupt the ground wire (BN = Black Brown) on 87 of relay K109. So the black/brown wire gets hooked up to the dash switch + and exits on the - switch post. It's same principle as a light switch but your using the relay ground wire. Your interrupting the relay to ground connection, when you do that the positive from the battery is cut off from seeking ground (your dash switch).

Cut the BN line, use crimp spades (male/female) to run two new wire lengths to the switch. The scotch locks don't break connections they piggy back off them so that's a no go. If you do it right you can remove the switch to return to stock if you go with one male on one cut of the BN and a female on the other cut BN wire.

anyway, just to update. tossed the ground on 86 of the relay. works mint.
