no T case shift to low
I Read through a bunch of old threads today along with the workshop manual and electrical manual and have come to the conclusion that my 98's T case interlock solenoid is inoperative locking it in high. I was told the T case was replaced after Jiffy Lube left the T case drain plug off and the lady PO burned it up, but I did not hear who did the work.
The brake light switch was bad but the trans would shift without the brake, so I assume its interlock solenoid was removed. I replaced the brake light switch today.
I see that the T case interlock relay (K151) is under the dash above the glove box. Any idea if I can test or jump the T case solenoid without pulling off the center console? Looks like the solenoid would be hard (impossible?) to reach from underneath, but perhaps the wiring can be reached? Any advice will be appreciated.

trans must be in neutral to shift into low
shifter can be siezed, kinda normal
you can only access the solonoid by dropping the transfer case and or trans, or remove console, pull carpet and maybe pass seat and cut a hole int he trans hump, 98 does not have a access pannel
you might want to climb under and check all plugs on the trans
solonoid is on top between the driveshafts

My 99 doesn't have the access panel. I had the same problem. I was able to pull the solenoid with out removing the passenger seat. But i did have to reach under and do it sort of blind. Not hard. 4 bolts and it's out. Getting to it is more of a pain than actually removing it.
