so here is the big question with low compression do you go the extra and replace rings or would re seating valves be enough?

i will have more information to help make this decision when i take the motor out and remove the sump later this week

petrol is gasoline lpg is like propane so burns hotter therefore burning valves quicker but keeps the oil cleaner making rings last longer

if I had it to do over I would have done rings on mine when the heads were off for head gaskets, esp. since I had the oil pan off too or better would have swapped in 4.6 crank and rods

at only 135,000 miles would it be necessary? but then i cannot say whether it is the original motor the info i can find indicates it is a range rover motor but they may have just put them in both

on the side of the block should be a spot with the motor number and compression ratio

yes that is 38D29500B which indicates range rover yet it is a discovery but they may have put the same engines in both. ratio is 13:1

i "believe" Range rovers have a higher compression ratio than discoverys. and it would be no way near 13-1.
it would be in the area of 9.25-9.50.

some web listings that i have seen list that engine number as range rover/discovery so maybe that they put the same engines in both

after removing some of the components off the front of the motor i have discovered that there is quite a bit of oil on the front which is not likely to have been caused by the rear main seal any suggestions?

My 98 leaked from

Valley pan under intake
Oil relief valve on oil filter adapter,
oil pan,
rear main,
oil lines

Think the only thing that didn't leak was the timing cover and front main
