sounds like i should replace all gaskets and seals

so can anyone tell me the easiest way to take out the top bolts that bolt the gearbox to the engine?

If you mean the transmission I used a bunch of long extensions from the back of the trans to reach it, long handle ratchet for leverage, I do not remember if they are accessible from up top with the coils removed

yes they are the bolts, i did try with extensions but found that the angle was not right to turn the bolt i was thinking of removing one of the engine mounts so that the engine could drop down a little hopefully giving better access

Did you drop the transmission mounts yet To let the engine lean back?

I don't think I used a swivel socket

i haven't touched the transmission mounts i was hoping not to touch them hopefully removing an engine mount and lowering the engine will give me the clearance i need

Are you pulling the engine? This can be done in vehicle, need to drop the trans

Try removing motor mounts and drop the engine down maybe you can access them from the top

removing motor mounts and drop the front of engine down using a floor jack and you can access them from the top
