She's a' throwin' codes again.
Alright so my check engine light has been on for a while now and I've racked my brain trying to figure out how to fix them.
The codes are
P0420 - Cat. inefficiency code
P0451 - Fuel tank (or as my obd software is telling me Evaps) pressure sensor fault
P1179 - running rich because the mass airflow isn't accounting for all of the air in the engine (give or take)
For the P1179 I'm guessing there is a leak somewhere and I've not the faintest clue where to start.
For the P0451 I just don't know. Should I just go ahead and replace my fuel pump? That's a pretty expensive part and I'm kind of low on money right now.
And finally P0420 I guess start with the O2's and work my way to the cats?

She's a '98 Discovery 1 with LSE trim (not that the trim particularly matters). 140,000 miles on her with a lift and other than filters and say the MAF having been replaced almost a year ago not much has been done to her. I recenly welded the exhaust pipes back together but was getting all the codes prior to that. I've also replaced the front o2's, tps, iacv, and ALL the hoses.

If money is an issue, you can eliminate the cat efficiency code by ordering these and removing your rear O2 sensors and installing these between the O2s and the pipe.
The P0451 can be fuel cap needing replacement or even not being tightened up properly(3 clicks). It can also be vacuum hose going to the evaporative system. I would check all the vacuum hoses for cracks or leaks.

Sweet! I'll then start with the lines to the evaps and then move to to working about the o2's (on pay day of course... oh the joys of being in college)
Ihscouts if I may what exactly was the concluding component to that thread? I will be checking the fuel pump and I have a spare fuel filter. If I come across a used fuel pump that is AEL at the wrench apart place would that do? or would I just clean out the net?
