Fresh oil - wow what a difference
When i bought my disco 2 last month, the oil had been changed the day i bought it so I wasn't in too big a hurry to get it done. Well, I decided to go with Rotella after reading this forum and WOW - I am stunned at the difference it has made. My engine is much MUCH quitter and smoother and I think it even runs stronger... I know that may be in my head but it definitely feels like it. I never knew a simple oil change could make such a difference the performance. I am glad I went with Rotella.

Hooked up the trailer to the D1 and picked up another antique motorcycle. This one is a 1979 Honda CB650 with 5700 miles. Will be much more comfortable over longer distances than the 1987 Cagiva 650 Alazzurra I picked up a few months ago. Only issue is it won't stay running if you push the choke off, so I'm dropping it off at a local indy shop this week. Will probably put on a different set of handlebars (GP-style, 4-in rise with 4-in pullback), and new mirrors (round black ones). Other items on the wish list include a front fork brace, maybe get another front disc rotor and get it cross-drilled, s/s front brake line, get the engine cases powder-coated or painted with bedliner coating to hide the minimal oxidation, etc.

Yea I figured I would see if its not the oil pan gasket at first because it is in really poor condition (just gobs of rtv) then go from there the transmission looks like a bit of a PITA to drop especially since i will have to cut off my exhaust to do it because it is in such poor shape. How long did it take to do yours

changed my oil, installed the glow shift sandwich adapter jam and a remote oil pressure sender.
i planned on putting new oil cooler lines in (mine are leaking a tad) but took another look at how tight everything is at the radiator and decided against it. my trans cooler lines are leaking pretty good at the trans end, gonna just order new o-rings for those.

It is doable in a day
Mine took longer cause I did all seals on trans while out also a good time to service the trans cause you can drain the converter and do the filter
There is no oil pan gasket its glue
