Default Spark Arc Sound, rough idel, sometimes stalls

94 Disco... hear a wierd tack tack tack sound sort of like a spark or electricac arc ... sounds like it is near the coil... but I can see any sparks or arcs. Engine all of a sudden is a little rough with noticable less power on acceleration. Sometimes it will stall like it is either fuel starved or air starved.

Air filter was dirty... replaced it. Put in new fuel filter too. Same issues and that sound is still there. Not constant no set rythm to it, but there every 3-4 seconds.

New coil time? Is there a test for the coil?

Joe

That tack tack sound is the arc, and if you do this in a real dark place you can see the sparks. Might be lucky and just a bad boot or wires.

You have a short, start the engine in the dark and open the hood and look for spark.

Thanks for the responses... traveling this week with limited time to reply...

Looked at night... saw small little sparks every now right on top of the coil between one of the coill terminals and the boot of the ignition wire that leads to the distrib.

Ordered a new coil... found a Bosch on sale for $60... New wires, and while I'm at it a new distrib cap and rotor. Hope that will fix it all. Plugs were new last year but may pull them while at it and hope to see some milk chocolate.

Will let you know.

Joe
