i used RTV on the ECM when I put it together, but was out of Dielectric grease. used it up on my smart car connectors and spark plug coils. Need to get a bigger tube next time.

OK I need to revisit this, I am at rover on the rocks, was playing in puddles and got a tiny bit of water in the ecm , shut it down , had to be towed back and I had to open the ecm and dry it

Water got in through the drain

Can anyone give me a valid reason to not glue that drain shut cause this is kind of rediculus

I'm not even sure "rediculus" is a word in the engrish languish. RTV the son of a beyotch. That way you can peel it off later when your not playing in puddles.

I have to waterproof many mechanical/electrical devices at work since it's a food plant and if you give someone a hose and garbage bag they always seem to hit the one vulnerable spot that isn't covered and blow it up. I remote vent everything up high and out of the way of hose spraying idiots. When your back home you can poke a hole in the cover and add a tiny ****** brass hose nipple and nylon tube and vent the ECU into the cab, it does need the venting for when it's circuits heat up and the outside is cold cuz that makes moisture....

This stuff works great keeping out moisture. Use it to seal connections/connectors and battery terminals.

OK so first thing this morning pulled the ecm, smeared rtv over the drains put duct tape over hole in wheel well, then unplugged crank sensor, pulled wires up top, seperated and electric taped them, slate red Rtv on the tape ends an top of plug for good measure, plugged in , pulled down heat shielding and ran all day no issues even ran the rock competition

I can see someone has replaced that plug before, and I will need a new one but fine for now, just trying to figure how I did not see it when the engine was out, the insulation was brittle and flaking off

If I had liquid tape with me I would have used it

With the ECM in the interior, is moisture really an issue? Only thing I can think of is maybe some slight condensation. Feeling fortunate living in a moisture heavy state and not had any issues as of yet.

I definitely have more power now, thinking that the crank sensor was an issue for a long time I just did not know it

Yes someone at rotr suggested moving the ecm behind the dash
