No lol.

But the some of the 2003 models have bad oil pumps which lead to engine failure. No way to fix the problem without installing a new engine.

one that has zero miles and never been used,,, that is the most reliable.

kidding aside. they all will have little issues here and there. but all vehicles do. no one vehicle has NO issues.

you will have issues from time to time. but they usually are smallish and nothing that a capable wrench hand cant tackle himself

Its def not a toyota. You have to keep up with maintenance. If you don't you'll have problems. If you do, you should be fine.

If you can find an 04 in your price range, get it over the 03. If you can't, make sure the 03 does not fall in the VIN range of bad oil pumps.

To say what year is best we need to know what you plan to use the vehicle for and how mechanically inclined you are. If you plan to wheel the vehicle a lot, IMO, a D1 (94-99) is the best. They are simpler and have fewer electronics than the D2. For a street truck, I would go with a 04 if you can find one in your price range. 04 is the last year for the Discovery (in North America anyway) and has all the newest and best offered in a Discovery. The 04 is also very capable off road as is any Rover.

Rovers get a bad reputation for being unreliable because they are very maintenance intensive. If you can't keep up on the maintenance or want a vehicle you can drive forever without doing any maintenance then a Rover is not the vehicle for you. Rovers will last a long time and be very reliable but they have to be properly maintained. The people that didn't bother with maintaining their Rover then had problems always speak louder than those of us that have never had a problem so they are the ones that get heard.

I am on the third on right now, meaning it's been 15 years of driving them, including 1 year that I had two. Land Rovers have characters. There are other SUV's that may be more reliable, but, it comes to a personal choice and I just can't imagine anything else be sitting in my driveway.

Better then us telling you, first tell us what you would be using it for, that way we can give you a little better feed back.

You'd be better served to re-post this in the Range Rover section.
