1000 mile trip and.....
Well ...... made it to Florida. Only major problem seems to be milage. I dont know if its what I can expect. Best got was 9.4mpg worst was 8.3mpg. But just now thinking that is probally also wrong with tires being bigger. May part answered my question. The truck is 03 with 4L in it. Has been lifted 2" and has 275/65/18s on it. There was 6 of us, me, her, and the 4 kids and it wasnt a bad ride. We have ran pretty consistent 70-80 mph. Now got to try to figure a formula to get actual milage. After 18 hrs in truck ready for some sleep and a comb over the truck in the morn.

That's a 9.5% difference, making your gas mileage an actual mileage 10.3 at best and 9.1 at worst. That's really bad, even for these trucks. The formula is to multiply your miles traveled by 1.095 by the way.
Were you towing the whole way? Hauling a lot of gear on the roof maybe? I stay loaded down inside constantly, 265/65r18 tires (an 8% difference), 3.5" lift, push bar, and a hi-lift jack on the roof. I still get around 12 mpg consistently. Maybe 11 at the worst if I'm towing, and that still seems to be considered worse than average by most of the people on here.

I hate to think of mileage. I look at a gallon of fuel in a plastic tank on the bench in my garage and I think 'that only takes me 10-12 miles.' It really isn't very far.
Unless it's 30. It's really bad. 8-10-12 they are all the same. Terribad.
I didn't buy my truck for mileage. I used to live in the UK. I couldn't afford a disco, because I couldn't afford to make it go forwards. Now I live in the land of cheap gas, it's great. I watch it, but don't care between 11 and 11.5.
8 is disappointing, but it will never be 30 so best be zen to it.

Thanks for the formula. Everything was inside. I had an cel for a o2 heater, that just effects cold start right? I just replaced all 4 and it runs tons better. Plan to check to make sure no pins pushed out, and read that a bad ground can cause this. So going add few more grounds. Im just glad made it here, lol. Your mileage is that from your sig motor, figure it would do better being more efficient than my anemic stock 4L. Really ready to repower it.

That O2 will definitely make a huge difference. If the heater circuit has gone bad, likely the sensor itself is on its way too.
Yep, that's from the one in my signature. You'd think it would, but not a single one of those mods changed it a lick. Neither dies the difference between town driving and highway driving. Driving aggressively sometimes decreases I by 1/2 a mile per gallon. Towing anything, even as much as 7500 lbs (the most I've ever has behind it) it still got 11.8. Insane. The only other vehicle I've ever seen with such consistent mileage is my grandfathers 01 F350 dually.
