2000 DISCO II Ticking noise
I have a 2000 Discovery II with only 59,000 miles on it. Regular oil changes from the dealer only as well as scheduled maintenance.
I hear a ticking noise coming from the engine only when I have driven the car for a while and only when the car is in park. Can someone please help me figure out what the problem is????

Either drain the oil, replace it with 6 quarts of ATF, using the old filter, and let it idle with the hood closed and the a/c off, for 30 minutes or quit having the dealer change your oil and start using 1 quart of of Gunk engine flush prior to your oil change and then do the change yourself using 6 quarts of Rotella 15W40 synthetic and a Mobil1-301 oil filter. You should be changing your oil every 3000 to 5000 when using a synthetic and stay away from the dealer.

Oil changes on these things are so ridiculously easy there is no reason to use the dealer, or a quick lube. You don't need jacks, everything is right there, and the oil filter is in a spot where you can get both hands on it and lots of leverage. I've never even needed a filter wrench. I just switched from Rotella T6 to Mobil 1 high mileage. Used to run a factory filter but have a 301 on it now because it came free with the oil. Has been running great and so far the leaks are holding off ;-)
