Default 2003 Driver door lock failure- need real time help

When inserting the key the lock will rotate 90 degrees both directions but feels like it is no longer connected internally.
I need help getting into the door by popping the lock. Anyone know how to pop it?
Also need to know how to deactivate the alarm once it's opened.
Will keying the ignition deactivate it?
I don't think it will. I think only the door lock will but not certain.
Thanks

It's super locked. AAA is trying to get in now.
I'll probably tow it home. If anyone can help me get past the super lock I sure would appreciate it.

I take it you don't have a remote key? else you woulda opened it with the remote and crawled across from the other side.
The remote will shut down the alarm other than that only turning the key to lock and unlock the door several times in the door will do it I think. Which you can't do, so not much help.

No, no remote. The keys don't have buttons.

there is a rod the going from the back of the key to the lock it has fallen off, a common problem.

I don't know of any way to get into without breaking glass so it's getting towed today.

We have a few issues.

-Keys have no buttons so we can't remote the car at all.
-"there is a rod the going from the back of the key to the lock it has fallen off"
-Ignition switch is failing; it will rotate freely unless the key is angled just right to create enough pressure / friction to rotate the tumbler.

I think it's going to the stealership this morning.
I'll probably have them get into it, then have them provide us new keys with remote buttons.
I'm just not sure about the ignition switch repair though. I have no idea how much they would charge for that but I'll guess and say I could buy another rover for the price. Discos are great except for all the fancy electronic bull**** they come with.

Paul Grant could help you out with a matching door lock and ignition switch as well as the drivers glass. He did a post not long ago about how to replace ignition switched fairly easy and the door lock is easy. it got to run you well over a grand just in parts from the stealership. a new programmed remote must be close to $500 alone.

What about breaking the small rear door glass, probably cheaper and easier to replace.
Then you could get in, pop the hood right quick and pull the battery cable to stop the alarm if it's going off ,you may want to pull the horn fuse in the engine compartment fuse box right quick before working to get the the battery cable off,
then pull the door panel and fix the rod that came off and hopefully after fixing the door lock/rod, you could reconnect the battery and turn the key in the lock several times to reset the alarm....not sure if that will rest the alarm but maybe?
anythings better than going to the dealership.... not worth it.

Dealership just told me $1,800 for the ignition switch.
$230 for key fob.
I almost laughed out loud.
So I need a source for key fobs and an ignition switch.
Cheers guys.

EDIT: the key is $230 without programming, that's another $100, I was told $345 for one key.

I'm going to have them get into it and do the rest myself. Need to order some key fobs and take them to the dealer and get them programmed.
