I recently had a scan run on my97 Land Rover Discoveryand it threw the code P1316 and i know that itis Misfire Excessive Emmission but my question is how do i fix it????? bc it feels like it is missing!!!!!!!!!! HELP ME PLEASE!!!

 

plugs and wires? When's the last time you changed them? how many miles you got?

 

it has 67k miles on it, i am the second owner..would all plugs need changed im guessing??

How mechanical are you? It is probably safe to say your truck is in need of some serious tune related work, can you do it if we walk you thru it?

Well me im not mechanical really at all, it would be an ex boyfreind chaning them for me, i already spoke to him and told him what you said and if thats what it needs he can do it no problem he is a master mechanic, i thank you for all the advice. so im going to call land rover first and make sure then we are going to get started on it on monday if that for sure what we need to do, which im hoping that what it is

 

I have a 96 and the same code is coming up and LR sad that it is valve stick. Is This right.

 

i put seafoam in and it didnt seem to help, why is it only throwing that p1316 code and not a misfire cylinder code???? is that weird to anyone???? is plugs and wires the only way to go when thats the only code its throwing? it seems like a vavle might be sticking but im not sure thats why i tired the seafoam and it didnt seem to help??? what now??[/align]

 

The seafoam will clean the carbon off your valve, if you do the intake method, which I assume you did. If you just added it to the tank, it will take a while to clean out. It isn't an instant fix.If it is missing, and you haven't changed the plugs and wires, I would do that next.It isn't too expensive, and can be done in a couple of hours by yourself.I guess the next thing to ask, is if is is ticking. I am not sure what causes that code specifically. DiscoMike might know. I had an endless number of codes on mine, and they all cleared eventually. I was even ready to buy new coil packs, and at $100 a piece, they get pricey real fast. I think just start with plugs and wires.

 

Is it possible that there might be something with my cam? land rover mentioned it, it is ideling a lot better but still a little rough and you can hear it out of the exhaust.

 

can you hear it ticking while it is running, and does it get faster when you hit the accelrator?
