Default Added seafoam for sticking lifter

I was told to add seafoam for a load sticking lifter. I added half the can and the rest to the gas. The lifter sounds louder now. Will it eventually clean up and quiet down or am I going about this the wrong way?

Are you 100% sure its a lifter? have you ruled out a slipped liner (with engine running taken off each spark plug and listen to see if the ticking stops)?

Join the club. Mine has sounded like this for 3 years now. I remember Seafoam making it sound worse for a while as well. Sometimes the noise is really loud, sometimes it's soft, and sometimes it goes away for days only to return again. I've found there are lot's of theories with no real solutions.

I hope to god its not a slipped liner, that will make the second motor. I havent tried the plug thing yet.

Hey Mike, I spoke to you a couple weeks back already about this issue. I decided to bring it to a mechanic to see what he thought and he told me it was a sticky lifter.

How long does the seafoam usually take to do its thing? I could try a thicker oil next I suppose before I tear into the motor.

Then don't try and cover it up with a bandaid. Are you mechanical enough to get into the top of the engine. Whatever is making that noise is failing and needs to be inspected.

First read my sticky at the top of this section on head gaskets and valve train noise, then call me, then tear into it.
