Sounds like it was "super locked". That is a extra security feature that disables everything.
Sorry, but I do not know how to dis able it.
Have you tried unhooking the battery for 30 mins or so?

original description incorrect. Alarm does go on and off. When I try to start the car the engine makes that sound like the battery is dead and THEN the alarm goes off? any ideas. battery is just dead?

Will it turn over at all? Or do you get nothing when you try and start it?
When you say the alarm goes off, do you mean it shuts off or it "go's" off? (horn honks, lights flash)

I get nothing. The lights on the dash come on as i turn the key but then there is a churning noise and then the alarm honks, blinks, etc. I can turn on interior/exterior lights, fan, radio..... but car will not start and when encouraged to do so (i.e. turning key) the alarm honks, etc.

Are the head lights dim. I could be a dead battery.

It sounds like the battery needs to be replaced. When you try to start you're pulling what little charge the battery has and confusing the alarm. If the alarm's starter disable was causing the problem you would get nothing when you turn the key to the start position. From my understanding of your description the starter is trying to engage but not getting enough power from the battery.
