No you're good. The bumpers come with new mounts. I'm talking about adding a recovery point. I wouldn't want one built into the bumper. I'd want t attached to the chassis. If you use the built in 99 ARB recovery points or bolt some on to an 03 I'd be afraid the new ARB crush cans would bend if you were to really use it.

Ah. Okay. Thanks for your time, Jafir. I didn't mean to turn this into a chat.

I'm going to get the 03 version.

You should get the tactical rovers bumper.

ZG, I have looked at those. I like the whole setup from Tactical (front and back bumpers and sliders) because they give so much approach and departure angle, and protection. I've looked at them before. They seemed a little expensive but probably worth it.

The bigger ARB or maybe TJM suits my needs, I hope, because it is primarily designed for animal impacts, pushing through brush, and pulling myself or others out of a stuck position.

Basically my original bumper is cracked and I am sick of looking at it. I rarely leave the pavement and we have deer everywhere. The ARB just made sense for me.

But I appreciate you commenting. Tactical makes nice stuff!

I ordered the ARB last night though.

I can tell you from experience the ARB can handle a deer. Mine so far has endured 3 deer and 2 coyotes. Plus being backed into by a little blonde in a red civic.

Anyone have a suggestion for recovery points? I ran across this ARB Bumper Prep 2 ? Shackle Mounts | Inland Crossing

Army, by backing plate do you mean a separate metal plate inside the bumper that the bolts pass through?

Something like this? http://www.terraintamer.com/lt/4wd-products/avm-hubs/item/217-avm-recovery-point

^yes and yes

And it should be a larger size than the recovery point you're mounting, or it will pull the sheet metal out that the ARB uses

Yup that would work nicely. It would do the job. I just don't trust sheet metal with the loads seen in a recovery.
