Default Coolant Hose Blew

One of my coolant hoses came off and took out the fan, fan cover and upper and lower radiator mounts. What would cause so much pressure to make a hose pop off. Could it be a head gasket? I am at a loss right now.

hard to say, looks like everything's original in there, hoses, clamps and t-stat.

could have been the fan that came apart taking out the hose. Bad water pump bearing?

Just replaced the water pump. Could it have built up too much pressure making the clamp fail and the hose coming off. Thermostat housing bevels are shot.

It is cracked and not much bevel is left. I guess I can buy the 180 degree thermostat and the hoses are not cracked or damaged.

I only modified about 3 words of that explanation from when I used it to explain the exact same question about older Porsches.

I though this was a good read...very true. From the looks of your T-Stat, I would replace all the hoses too...Your due for some maintenance

I would put the thermostat in and run the truck with the overflow tank cap off.
What you're looking for are bubbles not the little ones from movement. If you see big burping bubbles. If the head gasket is going bad it can force gas into the coolant system is maybe the reason you're hose exploded

see my thread. Same thing happened to me:

It could be that the fan took out the hose instead of the other way around.

I think I am going to buy a new fan, thermostat, hoses, and I just saw the return line nipple on the radiator is trashed so I will buy a new radiator. I have done lots of work to it already so hopefully she will run a while after this issue is resolved. I don't mind doing maintenance on it but this problem left me stranded. I appreciate the info and I am aware that this is no Chevy.
