Default Cruise control stop working

The cruise control quit working this weekend on my 02 disco SEII. I checked the fuse that runs it and the electronic mirrors and it was fine as the mirrors still worked. Any ideas? Not mechanically sound here.

On another note, wife said heat or air wouldnt come on on the way to the gym this morning but then came on on her way to work. Any relation to the cruise not working? Electrical problems?

Thanks for any help!

I am, by no means, an expert on LRs but the vacuum lines tend to be what causes the cruise control to crap the bed. Typically, they split at the ends so you can actually just cut the split portion off and reuse the same line or you could buy new. Do a search for that and you'll probably be good to go.

Hello,
First check the vacuum hoses; but most likely it is the switch on the brake pedal. If it is 'loose' it will not make contact with the bracket and will keep the cruise from working.
Good luck,

Just check the vac line going to the actuator, mine cracked (and continues to) where it goes over the barb. I just keep cutting off the cracked piece and sticking it back on. Going to redo the vac lines this summer, that'll be fun.

When diagnosing a problem that can have multiple causes always start looking at the least expensive, easiest fix first, and then work your way up the food chain. That definitely applies here since most DII cruise control problems are due to a cracked vacuum hose. It is a simple, $2 fix. And if it doesn't solve the problem you've eliminated it as a cause for the next several years for next to nothing.

Ok I searched the RAVE and can't find where the vac hose is. Anyone able to point it out?

LRD, check out page 18-2-84 in the workshop manual and you will find info. there about the line and the actuator connection or location. Havent had a chance to look at this fix yet but I do appreciate the input!! Ill let you know what turns up but as my luck has it, wouldnt be suprised if its the cheap fix! Thanks all!

Alright, to finalize this thread and kill it, I noticed the horn not working the other day as my wife has not. Long story short, blown fuse under the hood for the horn and what do you know, fixed the cruise control as well. Boggles the mind...
