Yeah, hate to do it but I completely agree ^^^. The LR Genuine kits are pretty nice but stupidly priced and I don't think they're available any more. The aftermarket ones always look like hell after a little while. The wood bleaches where the sun hits it, the clear coat separates and it starts peeling. They always end up looking really really bad.
If you want the wood trim keep an eye out on Ebay for a used genuine console assembly. The genuine kits have the white pictograms for the ash and coin tray on them instead of just blank wood panels. I haven't seen any aftermarket kits with the pictograms, not that they may no be out there, but if the pictograms are there you've a pretty good chance of getting genuine.
There were also two genuine kits, one that came with the entire center facia assembly and one that was stick on. The super big $$ kit was the one that came with the facia assembly and was entirely vacuum veneered. You can tell the difference between the two by the fact that on the really good one you don't see any of the plastic. A good place to pay attention to is the flat bit at the very top of the center piece, if you see plastic skip it.... or don't there really wasn't anything wrong with the factory stick on kit I'd just get the better one if possible.
