Just got done putting the engine back together after replacing both head gasket. I checked out the oil pump while it was apart, it look good. The first fire-up gave me 2 codes 1551- 1510. code reader said it was "idle control" or something.. I did used some carb cleaner on the upper intake, please don't tell me that i killed the throttle position sensor..

Hat's off to a man who can laugh at his mistakes! And we all benefit from his followup post.
Attached is sheet on IACV codes and why those appeared.
But for your oil pressure, did you measure that with a mechanical gauge before/after head work? Weak oil pressure can be a lot of other things besides heads.... spec for a D2 is above 10 PSI at idle, warm, and 50 PSI at 2000 rpm, warm. You've invested a lot of time and $ in the work, would not want to be driving around on 20 PSI of oil pressure....
i got the pressure checked at the indy shop when i got the quote for the head gasket repair. he said it was at 10psi and 38psi. Thats why i checked the oil pump when i had the engine apart in my garage. $2000 was a little high for my wallet. Some one on here some where got an adapter from summit racing and made a mechanical guage. I may go to advanced auto parts and buy a generic oil pressure tester and do it my self. Those sound low, the spec when warm engine is 50 at 2000 rpm. Would also have to be good oil, not oil and flush mixed together, etc. something W 40.
From RAVE shop manual general data for a D2:
Oil filter Disposable canister with full flow by-pass
Pressure at idle - minimum 0.7 bar (10 lbf.in2)
Pressure at 2000 rev/min (hot) 3.4 bar (50 lbf.in2)
Relief valve opening pressure 3.4 bar (50 lbf.in2)
Low oil pressure switch opening pressure 0.24-0.41 bar (3.5-6.0 lbf.in2)
But for a D1 4.0 engine:
System type .................................................. ................... Wet sump, pressure fed
Oil pump type .................................................. ................. Rotor
Oil pressure .................................................. .................... 2.11 to 2.81 kg/cm2 (30 to 40 psi) at 2400 rev/min with engine warm
Oil filter-external .................................................. ............. Full flow, self-contained cartridge
Why two trucks with such similar engines in some cases have oil PSI difference at hot engine is interesting. So 38 PSI is fine for a D1, not sure why not for a 99 & up D2.
Have seen pix of guy's rig with mechanical gauge from auto parts store installed under the hood. I guess he figures he'll see it weekly for the fluids check, and that is a lot more often than most Rover owners....
