Default I am debating buying a 300tdi for my 04

I have a 2004 HSE7 in great condition, (except for leaking sunroof) but the engine is shot. If I buy a TopHat sleeved replacement I am looking at $6000 to $8000 by the time I am done and still won't get 20mpg.

I have got a price on a rebuilt 300tdi and tranny shipped from England for $8000, plus tax and duty. It will be 10g's before I am done I'm sure.
The qoute was from these guys:landroverimport. Here is the link http://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=j&...77412846,d.aWw

Anyone familiar with them?

Thoughts?

I mean if you have the money and means why the hell not? It would certainly increase the value of the truck to enthusiasts anyway.

You're in Canada, why don't you just import a 98-99 Td5 Discovery for $12k?

That is the route I started on but I am fussy. I really like my 04, it's white with beige leather and it is simply nicer than the older ones.

We drive alot so payback is 4 yrs. I was hoping someone had dealt with these guys and had good things to say.

Even PT Schram, a stand up rover parts guy absolutely hates that guy, from what I understand he is borderline criminal. I would avoid him like the plague.

That sounds great, if it came with a Disco tranny to make it work. I don't have a machine shop to build brackets, bell housings, etc. It needs to bolt up fairly easy for me to do it.

I am looking for options, though.

Keep 'em coming!

It'd be a nightmare to get a standalone ecu to work, and it'd be a ton of work.
