Default Fuel Filter 2001 Discovery II

Where is the fuel filter located on a 2001 Discovery II? I have looked behind the back right side passenger wheel and all I see is the fuel line. Am I blind? Also, do you have any tips for changing it once I find it? Thanks!

Phil,
There are no exterior fuel filters on a D2, only the sock in the tank.
Are you having a problem with your engine?

I am having a problem with my DiscoII. It is also a 2001. The service engine soon light has been going on and off and the engine will shake or miss slightly. I changed the spark plugs and checked all the wires. I hooked up a code reader and it said the cylinder number 6 multiple missfire detected. Ive also run fuel system cleaner through the system several times. Under load the problem is more apparent and it occurs less often as rpms increase. Makes me think fuel starvation. What do you think?

Change the plug wires and the problem will go away.
Get a good set of wires. Everybody recommends Magnacor wires.

Speaking of which, where's the best place to add a filter in-line? Looking at having to run gas in Mexico and South America and having a removable filter and possibly a water separator is looking like a good idea.

Number 6 is a common misfire due to the position of the wire and heat failure. Buy a set of 8mm Magnacor wires, replace your old set, throw in a can of 44K to clean up all the old built up carbon and your set.

Default Same issues, except code for #4 cylinder

Just joined!!!

I have been having the exact same issues as disco2adam. Except my code was for the #4 cylinder. I know you said the #6 is common, do you think that new wires would solve this one too? I just cant get past thinking its a fuel problem.

Thanks for the help.

always start a new thread when you have a question. and yes if you don't have 8mm wires and descent plat plugs in there you can have misfires. you can also get misfires from the head gaskets failing if you have not already done them as i see you are near 100k.
