Does anyone know what the difference is supposed to be between fuel pumps from disco 2's circa 2001 in trucks with sai vs non sai trucks?


I've got one of each- supposedly- I've looked them over pretty good, and the only differences i've found are
color of the plastic (sai car is darker)
material internal connections are made of

unfortunately i didn't get pictures of the one that went into the truck before i realized there's supposed to be two different types, i just checked it all with a multimeter and put it in...

Supposedly the fuel pump in the truck now is for a non-sai truck, but it's just fine, no CEL no running issues etc

anyone got any insight? googles been useless beyond telling me there's two different part numbers and the more popular one is more money

 

I do not think SAI vs NON SAI would have a different fuel pump.
The fuel system and fuel pressure are not related to the SAI.

SAI is simply a shop vac that blows air into the heads when the Rover first starts in the morning to prevent pollution.

IF your fuel pumps looked different, probably one is OEM and one is an OEM from a different vendor.

rockauto does not acknowledge vehicles with SAI (see below) but has the best price on a bosch pump

What's struck me is that they don't have seperate pictures. rovers north for example shows you a picture of the sai FP and a diagram for the non sai FP. parts geek seems to have inverted one pic.

My truck is a 2000 sai, and partsgeek says only one pump for that year, but i had a spare pulled from a 2001 non sai which i put in and doing due dillegence post-facto on the functioning repair job i found out vendors are claiming some years have "options".

i'm wondering if it's as simple as the cylindrical mounting tab for the black sensor to fuel system vac line (circled in the attached picture) sorry I don't have a grasp on the proper name for what that sensor is
