Default The heated seat debacle

Continuing from: http://www.landroverforums.com/m_44705/tm.htm

Well, I did some ohm testing today to see if I did or did not have the heating seat elements in my 03 Disco S.

Unforfotunately, I did not.

I did, however, find and confirm the disconnected plug that goes to the heated seat elements. I will post a picture tomorrow for others to see.

So... let me get this straight. You drive a 6000lb., 4WD shoebox with a V8 engine and you can't figure out why your fuel economy is poor?! O_o

Here's the picture of the connector.

Keep in mind that this is from my 03.

If you have this connector under each seat, running into the seat back and it is unplugged, you do not have the elements in the seats.

On the other hand, if you do and it is plugged in, then the elements are there.

If this plug is missing, then you car was never wired for them in the first place.

Again, this picture was taken in a 2003 Disco S (Duragrain Seats).

HTH.

I just took a look at my Land Rover discovery II 2000 and I see the plug, but it is disconnected
Oh well, It would have been nice for 70 bucks, but not a necessity.

I just plugged in my new switches today on my '02 DII. It took all of 3 minutes. Passenger side is moderately warm. Driver side warms, gets cozy, then cools. Actually on the way home from work it never even got warm.

Save your money lads. Get warmer pants.

I didn't read your previous post, so sorry if I'm duplicating, but there are guys that sell heated seat kits on Ebay. My Cadillac doesn't have them and I"ve owned for years. I still kick myself for not buying a drivers side kit years ago!

Worth $40? Probably not. Day 3 of heated seats has improved, but they're still slow to heat and the heat isn't very warm or evenly distributed. I mostly got them because my wife's BMW has really nice heated seats that she loves.

It's pretty cold here today and having my car parked in the sun for 20 minutes did more to warm the seat than the seat heater.
