Been lurking around here for awhile, great fourm learned alot.So my hunt has started on finding a disco2.There is one by me for sale its an 03 and of corse the vin falls within the crap range. The guy started it up and there was no ticking,115k miles no service history se7,and he wants 5k.The max i want to spend is 5k,so should i just stick with the 4.0Ls but i love the head lights on the 03-04s.
Thanks guys..........rock on
My 03's Vin# falls in that range as well. I have 93k on it, but I only paid 4k for it.

I'm pretty sure if that if it were to fail it would have already, so I wouldn't be too worried. If you only have 5K to play with though, note that with the mileage on it, you will need maybe $2K in work in the near future if not done already (head gaskets, drive shaft, etc).

We soon learned and are still learning to set money aside for maintenance. We purchased our one owner, 121 K miles, with service records and soon went through the $3,000 we budgeted for upkeep.
Now looking at a water pump this weekend and in the spring the high pressure steering line, radiator, and coolant hoses.
I have not even had a chance for any toys such as the CDL, tires, Waxoyl, lift or roof rack.
A labor of love I guess.

Thanks for all the replies.....I guess i should look more into the 00-02s and save some coin for repairs. One of my first jobs was working in a import car workshop and we serviced a lot of early jag xj6s 83-90.The motors were great but its the early lucas electrics that kept crapping out on these cars.PLEASE tell me they got better in the disco II.
