Default Help with 3 amigos for 02 Disco - pictures posted

I have a 2002 Disco II with 95k miles. I am working to try and clear the "3 Amigos" on my dash board. I recently used the "ABS Amigo" to try and clear the 3 lights from my dash. After several attempts it did not work. The ABS Amigo did allow me to download a file with the problem. I am hoping someone can decode the message and help me determine what work needs to be done on my Disco. I also removed the right, front wheel and noticed what I believe to be a cut wire in my hub assembly. Can anyone confirm what this wire is connected to? How do I determine which wires are positive and negative in order to solder them back together? Is this related to the 3 amigos?

Thanks in advance!

Adam

That is your ABS sensor, you will need a new one.
You will not beable to clear the lights until the problem is corrected.
If you want to try and splice them you can but very doubltful that will work.
As for + and -, it shouldnt matter but someone else can better confirm this.

Would this be the correct part to replace my sensor? Is this a good price?

No, you need this.

You have a DII so you need a DII ABS sensor, the link you posted is for a DI.
Check with www.autosportsunlimited.com, call them at 800-624-3876, they are in Zeeland so you can save on shipping.
Talk to Chris and tell him that I sent you.

Like spike said, try and splice, solder them back together. and from the look of it, they weren't cut evenly so you should be able to match up the short end of the sensor wire to the longer end wire on the hub. and reverse for the other wire. But it also looks like you dont have much wire length to work with.

Makes sense? If that doesn't work, get the new one.

Jycsalas- Thanks for the idea on matching them up but it looks like the previous owner tried to twist them back together and tape them up. Without soldering it, there was no chance for it to work long term. I am guessing this is what happened because there was black electrical tape on the short wires connecting to the hub. I would certainly like to try to solder it back together first to save a couple bucks. Is there any tools or tricks to determine how the 2 wires match up? Both wires look white and do not appear to have any markings. Thanks for any ideas in advance. Adam

From your pictures, look pretty obvious which one goes to which as they are diff lengths.

If its broke, its "probably" to short, so get some similar gauge wire, and splice / solder in about 2 - 3 inches more length on each one, cover the solder joints in a small amount of electical tape AND then heatshrink the joints, and THEN a piece of heat shrink over the whole length of the repair with a good overlap.

Will last for years then and fix the problem.

UPDATE!!!

I soldered the two cut wires back together on Saturday. I could not tell which one was which - even with a magnifying glass. I knew I had a 50/50 chance and connected the long wire on one end to the short wire on the hub side and vice versa. I soldered it up pretty good and finished my work with electrical tape. Once I put the wheel and lugs on, I turned over the engine and said a quick prayer. To my amazement, the hill dissent and TC were gone but the ABS was still there - the lone amigo! I did a short lap around my block as I usually do when I remove and replace a wheel. Halfway during my 2 minute drive, the ABS light disappeared. All 3 amigos are gone! Thank you everyone for time and help.

Adam
