Default Help - Timing Gear Gasket

putting the timing gear gasket on right now after replacing gears, chain and oil pump.

RAVE says put the timing cover gasket on Dry... has anyone done this, and how has is worked long term? Asking because I generally put some RTV on there...

Thanks

I did mine according to the rave. It's only been 200 miles since but, so far so good. From what I have heard it is extremely important to not exceed the stated torque on the bolts. The gasket can pinch and leak coolant internally if overtightened.

I did the same thing. Plain gasket nothing on it. About 3000 miles and no leaks.
