Question....my drivers side back passenger window is stuck in the down position. It will not move even when I try and pull it up. It doesn't make a sound when I push the button up or down. Does this sound like the motor or the regulator?

My guess would be the motor, but you're probably going to have to pull off the door panel and check it out.

On further inspection, it will make a slight noise when I push the window button down but nothing when I push it up. So I guess I am going to order a motor.

Anybody with an opinion on the best place for a 2000 DII rear drivers side window motor?

Well after I bought a motor and regulator I decided to try to roll it up one more time and the damn thing worked.....

Im not sure if it's a short in the switch now or if the motor is really bad. I may go ahead and change them out anyway.

Hello,

I went to replace my regulator and it looks fine. The motor seemed to be working, so I opened the motor gear case and saw the plastic gear/sprocket inside was torn. Does anyone know where I can get this piece?

Default Motor Test

How can I use a voltmeter to test if the window motor is bad BEFORE I take this all apart? I will need to order the motor if it is bad, but want to be sure before all the dis-assembly. Can this be done?

I think the electric is getting to the motor, but am not sure if it is a stuck regulator or the window motor itself. Anyone have any ideas?

Thank you!

Kevin

Few months ago I went to mehanic because one window would not open. When he took trim out, and checked everything, he said that window regulator is fine, but motor is broken.

He took window motor out, teared it apart did few things on it, and after ten minutes I had working window motor. Everythings works great. Bill was $15

Maybe windows motors are easy to repair and no need to buy one, only good mehanic is needed

Default Thank you!

We just purchased an 04 Discovery and the window was clicking and jerking on its way up and down. Thanks to this thread I bought a new regulator for $33 and replaced it tonight. Thanks for the awesome step by step instructions!

I am about to replace the regulator in the driver side door; mine was FUBAR; it had an actual crack in the metal that holds the motor to the door panel; and one of the nylon wheels had dry rotted and broken.

anyway; I have a question that is bothering me. There is a square plastic / nylon bracket of some sort that was attached to the original regulator that is not attached to the new one.

what is it’s purpose?

also, how do I determine the final position of the window on the edge of the frame before tightening down the two mounting bolts?
