which idler pulley is the left/right one?
hello all,
I need to replace an idler pulley on my 4.0. It's the one below the alternator pulley and the tensioner pulley.
I see both "left" and "right" idler pulleys at the usual online LR parts sources... but I can't figure out if they mean "exit stage left" or "exit audience left"....
Which left/right do they mean? Is the "alternator side" of the engine the "right" or "left" side of the engine?
Do I need the "left" or the "right" pulley?
Cheers,
Thomas

Thanks, for clearing that up for me.
what torque should I tighten the bolt to?
"...how much longer will the other one last?"
um, is the answer: longer than the first one that failed, plus one for each day until it breaks?
Cross my fingers, if I'm lucky, the one I just bought on Amazon, that didn't say if it was left or right, will replace the one that hasn't failed yet.
Speaking of Amazon. Got an insane deal this past tuesday: I got a brand spanking new Bosch AL0809N Alternator for $142. That's AL0809N, not a refurbished/remanufactured AL0809X. (N=new X=reman).
That deal didn't last long but you can still get it for a still outstanding price of $284.56. Amazon.com: Bosch AL0809N New Alternator: Automotive
