More stereo drama...
#11
Yay. After lots of toil and trouble, I have a Highline stereo, wired to an aftermarket amp, hitting up my new sub in the back cargo pod, tuned in to the Grom unit I've had sitting around for a year, and the noise it all makes is PHE-NOM-ENAL.
Many thanks go to Joemamma. For phone, text, pm and email support. Convincing me I knew more than I thought I did, and I wasn't going to blow something up.
And thanks to Paul G and an extra speaker harness I can pull it all out if I want and everything is back to stock.
Just need to tidy up a few loose ends! Route a couple more cables! Solder the final connections... Ie. Fit it.
I've tentatively played with the amp settings, but would like to know what I am actually doing before turning things too far. Anyone know of a good amp tuning link? I've worked out input sensitivity, but am not sure how much I should be pushing that.
There are also hi and lo frequencies to set.
The line output converters also have a gain setting, should I play with that etc?
Want to be sure I'm getting the best sound possible, and doing the right thing by the amp.
Now to get it all back together so I can convince the missus "it's just that new head unit. It's much better."
