Ok, no visible cracks and no warping. Other than the brake fade when they get VERY hot, I think they're pretty much the best you can get.

Fitted rear Akebono pads and some cheapo rotors. Wish id spent more on the rotors now. Will see how they go.

Very straight forward. First time i've done the brakes on this. Trickiest bit was tempting the old rotor off. I wouldn't like to have to do it and NOT damage the rotor.

They instantly feel better. My feedback through the pedal has gone. looking forward to less dust.....

Two things about these pads and rotors.

1. Why, in this day and age can they not produce a rotor that doesn't rust? Disappointing to see brand new parts rust up. Unless they do, and I just bought bad ones....

2. Does it take longer for ceramic pads to bed in? I'm getting slightly uneven rubbing on the outside of each rotor. Both pretty much the same. The insides of the rotor are nice and even across the surface. Both calipers were very free to move. Feel at the pedal is great.

1. They do you just have to pay more for zinc or other coatings.
2. I would just keep any eye on it, it could be a couple things.
one being that they were not cut before being installed, yes the should be trued before install.
or a sign of guide pin problems.

Default Ebay

I bought some slotted rotors and pads off ebay, probably the same ones. I painted the top hats and this still look fine. For a Nissan, fyi.

the front rotors warped quickly and replaced with solid ones. The rear are still fine, a few years later.

That is interesting. I'll be looking at zinc rotors next time I think.

I don't follow. Cut? Trued?

yes when the disc was make it was cut and tried to spin perfectly round, but it has been sitting in a box on a shelf for who know how long.
Was the box laying down , standing up, top down, bottom down, was it dropped, who knows.
This will all effect the trueness of the rotor, a dealer or brake shop will always cut a new drum and rotor before putting them on. you will not believe how out of true a new rotor or drum will get in storage.

Got it.

Didn't consider the discs. In that case I would expect the pad to fit to the rotor over time. Assuming it isn't warped in some other way. The fact they seem to match on both sides indicates to me that it is something in the manufacture/storage of this particular batch/brand.

I'll keep an eye on it. No vibration or fade or anything else.

Thanks.

I have seen some rotor real bad right out of the box, cause the were stored with the hats down. over time that weight tends to settle causing the rotor to be untrue, I would just watch it to make sure it is not a frozen guide pin.
I would venture to guess 80% of the new drums and rotors go on without being trued first, just the way thing are now a days
